Source-check exercise | Maitz | Checked October 3, 2026

This is a practice claim written for the exercise, not a quote from a real post:
"Apple announced iPhone 16 on September 9, 2024, and it was available to buy worldwide that same day."

The source we opened:
https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2024/09/apple-introduces-iphone-16-and-iphone-16-plus/

Announced on the stated date: verified against the announcement's date and opening text.
Available on the same day: contradicted by the Pricing and Availability section.
Available worldwide on the same day: contradicted; the section lists launch waves on different dates.

This check shows what the historical announcement says. Actual store inventory and availability in any specific country were not checked.
This is an editorial source check, not output from Grok or a test of Grok's performance.
