MAITZ NOTEBOOKLM FLASHCARD AND QUIZ PRACTICE KIT

Practice checking AI-generated questions against two short sources. The materials describe a fictional adult training center. Every organization, person and procedure in the exercise is invented. There is no real personal or business information.

This kit supports the documentation-based Maitz guide to NotebookLM, now Gemini Notebook. It contains source material, manually written reference answers and blank practice templates. It does not contain results, screenshots, a generated flashcard deck or a product export.

FILES
sources/source-A-en.txt and sources/source-B-en.txt: the two English source documents.
answer-key.csv: 16 reference questions and expected answers, written for this exercise. Keep this file OUTSIDE your product notebook so you can check answers independently.
source-check-template.csv: blank log for checking each generated item.
practice-again-template.csv: blank repeat-practice sheet for verified items.

GET STARTED
1. Use an account you are authorized to use. Check its available allowance and applicable source restrictions. No subscription purchase is needed to use these files locally. If your account does not offer the required feature, you can still practice comparing the reference questions with the two source texts.
2. Put only source A and source B into a dedicated notebook. Do not add the answer key, instructions or CSV templates as sources. Set the output language to English.
3. Create one small flashcard set and one short quiz in Studio. Use the prompt below as a starting point. Quantity controls may be relative rather than an exact item count. Record what was actually generated and inspect every item.
4. For each question, check its wording, answer, explanation and any displayed citation against A and B. When useful, ask the question in chat and open its source citation. A citation that merely mentions the topic is not evidence that the answer is correct. If no supporting citation is available, record that limitation rather than marking the citation check as passed.
5. In addition to the generated items, ask Q07, Q13, Q14, Q15 and Q16 from the answer key once. These test an updated cutoff, the older cutoff before the update takes effect, a calculation, missing information and an ambiguous question.
6. Correct unclear or unsupported items before practising with them. If you make another generation request, keep it to one targeted repair after checking your allowance. Retain the original and corrected wording separately.
7. Copy verified questions into the repeat-practice sheet. Answer before revealing the answer, then explain the source condition that makes it true. Set your own next practice date.
8. If flashcard CSV download is available, save that actual export separately and check the number of rows, question–answer pairing, line breaks and special characters. Do not assume citations, explanations or progress are included. This does not imply that quizzes can be exported as CSV.

STARTER PROMPT
Create a small set of English flashcards for adult learners using only Documents A and B. Test one fact per card. Include the change to F07 and distinguish publication date from effective date. Do not fill gaps with outside information. Rewrite any question that permits two reasonable interpretations.

For the quiz, request a short English quiz with the same source and date constraints. Ask for an explanation for each answer. Product output still needs checking; a prompt is not a guarantee.

WHAT TO CHECK
There are 12 distinct fact identifiers, F01–F12. F07 appears in both sources because the second document explicitly changes it. Document B was published on September 20, 2026, but the new 18:30 cutoff takes effect on October 1. The old 17:00 cutoff applies through September 30, inclusive. Other instructions from A remain in force.
Two complete kits contain 16 route cards: 2 × 8. This is a calculation, not a quotation, and excludes the blue instruction cards. Saturday opening hours are absent; do not invent them. “When must a kit be returned?” needs clarification because it may refer to the three-day loan period or the daily cutoff.

TEMPLATE HELP
source-check-template.csv records the run and language, artifact type, actual question/answer/explanation, citation target, whether the source supports it, date conditions, ambiguity, issue, corrected wording and retest result. Use one row per item. A useful support label is supported, needs correction or unverifiable.
practice-again-template.csv records a verified question and answer, its source location, your first attempt, next practice date, next attempt and any remaining question.
CSV files are UTF-8 with a byte-order mark for spreadsheet compatibility. If your spreadsheet application asks for an encoding or delimiter, select UTF-8 and comma.

Keep real private material out of this exercise. If you later substitute your own documents, check that you are allowed to share them with the service and understand the privacy terms for your account.
