Anthropic announced two new tools inside Claude on October 8, 2026. The first, Claude Dashboards, turns a question about company data into a dashboard that keeps itself current as the data changes. The second, Claude Motion, turns an idea, a report or a chart into a short animated explainer for a presentation. Both launch in beta. In the same announcement, the company said Docs, Slides and Design, the tools for making documents, decks and designs inside Claude, are out of beta and available on every plan, including Free.

Anthropic frames the launch around waiting. Asking a question about company data usually means filing a ticket with the data team or writing SQL, and an idea that would land better in motion usually ends up as another static slide. Now you can ask Claude for the dashboard or the animation itself and see how it was made: every chart shows the query behind it, and every animation is built as code you can edit.

Claude Dashboards: quick questions about your company data

You connect Claude to your company’s data platform, such as Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks or Snowflake, and ask a question in plain language. Claude pulls the answers, builds the dashboard and keeps it updated as the data changes. It also works with Claude’s other connectors, so you can ask for something like a dashboard of your Salesforce opportunities.

Anthropic positions Dashboards for quick, exploratory questions, such as how this week’s signups compare with last month’s. Click any number to see the query that produced it, or ask Claude to explain it. Each chart shows when its data was last refreshed. Dashboards are meant to sit alongside BI tools, not replace them: when a question needs deeper analysis, you can send the dashboard straight to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog or Sigma and continue there. Looker, monday.com and Tableau support is coming soon.

Claude Motion: explain ideas with animation

With Claude Motion you can ask Claude to turn a quarterly report into a 30-second explainer for an all-hands meeting, add motion to a chart in a board deck, or build a product walkthrough for customer onboarding. Claude builds the animation from your prompt, and it plays like a short video. You can adjust it in the editor or ask Claude for changes, then download it as an MP4 file.

It helps to know what Motion does not do. Anthropic says it is built for explaining your own work: Claude writes code that animates your text, charts, shapes and images, so any word, number or timing can be changed. It does not use a video generation model, so there is no generated footage and there are no AI-generated people. To take an animation further, you can open it in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI or Runway, with Canva and Captions coming soon. Runway said the same day that Claude Motion explainers can be exported to Runway, where you can generate footage, add voiceover and music, edit scene by scene and reformat for each channel.

Docs, Slides and Design leave beta

Anthropic says people have made more than 45 million docs, decks and designs in Claude since these tools arrived in every conversation. Dropping the beta label comes with several upgrades:

  • Enterprise readiness: artifacts now support CMEK (customer-managed encryption keys), and admins choose which artifact templates their organization uses.
  • Team editing: your team and Claude can work on the same doc, deck, design or dashboard.
  • Sharing outside the team: slides, designs, dashboards and animations can be shared with people outside your organization, or with anyone who has the link, if your admin allows it.
  • Faithful exports: PowerPoint and PDF downloads match what you made in the editor, and decks go to Google Slides as editable files.
  • Mobile editing: change a doc, deck or design in the Claude mobile app.

Claude Design, which started as a standalone site at claude.ai/design, is moving into Claude. The standalone site stays up until December 14. Anthropic recommends migrating design systems now from the Artifacts page in Claude by clicking Migrate team design systems. Projects keep working in the standalone version until it closes, but chats and comments left there will not be available afterward, and public links to standalone projects will stop working.

What it means for you

  • Who gets what: Dashboards is in beta on paid plans, Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise, and Docs, Slides and Design are available to everyone, including on the Free plan. The announcement does not mention a separate price for the new tools.
  • Enterprise admins: Dashboards and Motion are off by default and can be turned on under Organization settings, then Artifacts. Docs, Slides and Design switch on by default on October 15, or you can enable them today. For teams in the EU and UK handling personal data under GDPR, CMEK support gives you control of the encryption keys for artifacts; Anthropic’s post does not address data residency.
  • Claude Design users: you have until December 14 to migrate design systems and save important chats and comments from the standalone site.
  • Availability: Anthropic did not announce regional limits for these features. Plans, pricing in USD and tips are in our complete Claude guide, and more updates are in AI News.
