EA and Battlefield Studios released a new gameplay trailer for the fifth season of Battlefield 6 and REDSEC on October 6, ahead of its October 13, 2026 start. The season will take the fighting to Las Vegas and Area 51, combining a faster battle royale mode with a Halloween event inspired by Dead Space.
The official announcement describes combat along the Las Vegas Strip and the defense of classified secrets on the Area 51 map. New weapons and equipment will join them. REDSEC will receive Rapid Royale, described as a faster and more aggressive version of battle royale. The announcement also mentions the Open Series and the official launch of Ranked BR, expanding the game’s competitive side.
The Dead Space crossover is explicitly confirmed in the text accompanying the trailer. The limited-time event will feature a mysterious artifact that threatens to corrupt the world, as part of a new PvE experience. The announcement does not give the event its own start date, so it should not be assumed to begin alongside the season on October 13.
In an earlier community update, published on September 30, EA detailed the content structure: three new maps over the season, two of them at launch, and a server browser planned for later. Rapid Royale will open with solo and trio variants, emphasizing shorter matches and more frequent player encounters.
The changes will also reduce some playlists. The current rotation between solo and duo battle royale will end at the start of the season, with the company planning to bring duos back later. Gauntlet will leave the active playlist; according to the developers, the goal is to bring the community together and improve waiting times and match filling.
The same update also announced the ability to reconnect to a REDSEC match after a disconnection, alongside changes to the specialization paths for all four classes. In Portal, the two first-phase maps are expected to be available initially as verified experiences, with support for custom experiences arriving later.
The developers emphasize that plans may change following testing and feedback, so the final list of weapon and equipment adjustments is best checked when the patch notes are published. The new trailer provides the season’s latest reveal, but some systems were already described in September. Ahead of launch, the important distinction is between content intended for day one and additions arriving later in the season.
