ATMOSFAR, the survival and exploration game developed by Apog Labs and published by Shueisha Games, is scheduled to enter PC Early Access on October 29. The date now appears on its official Steam page, alongside details of what the first version will include and what remains planned for later development.
The central idea is a home you can take into the sky. In a world of floating islands, players head out in small aircraft called Wasps and return to the Cloud Cruiser, a mobile airbase that carries equipment and flying craft. Along the way, they gather scrap, make repairs and upgrades, and manage supplies of electricity, fuel and oxygen.
Players can travel alone or join an online group of up to four. According to the official website, friends can fly in formation, ride aboard another player’s craft and build their base together. Weather and local creatures are expected to add risks to the journey, alongside the search for answers about the colony’s fate.
The launch scope is worth noting: according to Steam, the Early Access version will include two regions and three Wasps. Additions to the third region, the Scout Wasp, expanded base building and the conclusion of the story are planned for later. The developers estimate that Early Access will last at least nine months, though it could take longer.
Players looking for a shared survival adventure will be able to check out the upcoming version at the end of the month. The game is not yet available, so it is too early to judge how its flying, building and co-op systems work together in practice. For now, these details are based on developer materials.
