On September 28, 2026, xAI announced Team Bots: shared Grok Bots for an entire team, with the same files, instructions, and skills, while each person’s conversations stay private. The launch post is on x.ai’s official news site, under the SpaceXAI / Grok Bot product line.

You build a Bot around a shared role or workflow, share it with the team, and everyone still works with it one-on-one. The Bot keeps separate context and memories per user, while drawing on team-wide skills. If you already know what Grok Bot is, this is the step from a personal teammate to a group one.
Four pieces: context, plugins, credentials, memory
According to xAI, every Team Bot combines four parts. Context supplies files, instructions, and skills (brand guides, internal docs). Plugins connect apps such as Salesforce, Notion, and GitHub, per person or for the whole team. Credentials give secure access to third-party APIs without a dedicated plugin. Memories retain what the Bot learns so it improves at its role over time.
Teams can also work with the Bot in Slack. Each Team Bot has its own handle; invite it to a channel so everyone can ask questions, add context, and see replies.
How xAI uses Team Bots internally
The company describes four internal patterns. Large sales accounts get a shared Bot for the AE, CSM, solutions architect, and sales leader. Overnight it reviews company news, recent Gong calls, Notion docs, and relevant Slack threads. Each morning it posts a briefing in the account channel with what changed and what each person should do next, including role-specific drafts.
On the engineering side, an Engineering Team Bot connects to Notion, Linear, Hex, Datadog, and Cursor. It follows product decisions, triages bugs, opens tickets, and launches Cloud Agents for well-defined fixes. xAI says that while building Team Bots themselves, the Bot steered a Cursor Project with hundreds of Cloud Agents and helped a five-person team ship more than 100 pull requests a day.
Marketing Bot reviews drafts against brand guidelines and current messaging, then takes approved website and SEO changes from review to a preview link in Slack. Data Bot runs read-only queries on approved Databricks tables and also connects to Datadog, Hex, and Statsig. The analytics team handed it a skills library built over two years across more than 45,000 tables.
Customer example: Harper
Insurance company Harper built a Team Bot to find customers with lapsed policies and help reinstate coverage. CEO Dakotah Rice says the team previously checked three platforms by hand and sent personalized emails; they built the Bot in 24 hours and recovered more than $120,000 for customers across hundreds of policies. That is a customer quote in the official post, not an independent audit by Maitz.
Who it is for right now
The announcement describes availability for Grok Bot / SpaceXAI customers. xAI does not spell out separate Team Bots pricing in the post, so we are not inventing a price. For how personal AI teammates compare, see also Grok Bot vs Dots and OpenAI Dots. More coverage is in AI News.
