Most Maitz reviews and comparisons are checked against each company’s official documentation: pricing pages, help centers, docs and privacy policies. Some articles also include hands-on testing, and then we say exactly what we tested, when and on which plan. An article that did not involve using the tool is labeled “First look” and gets no score.

What we tested hands-on, and what comes from documentation

Every review and comparison states at the top what it is based on. Most reviews we have published so far are first looks based on official sources, such as our Gemini review, DeepSeek review and Cursor review. In those articles we did not use the tool itself, so they carry no score and no claims about measured quality.

When we do test a tool ourselves, the article gives the date, the plan, what we tested and what we did not. Two examples:

Even in hands-on articles, anything we did not test is labeled as untested, and what we say about it comes from official documentation.

The “First look” label

“First look” means the article was written from the company’s official documentation, pricing pages and help center as they appeared on the date stated in the article, without using the tool itself. The label appears at the top with a short note on what was not tested, and the article has no score. If we test the tool later, we update the article, the label and the date.

Free plans and paid subscriptions

We do not buy subscriptions for reviews unless the article says so. Hands-on checks run on free plans or on accounts already available to us. When a test used credits or ran on a paid plan, the article says so, as in our Higgsfield test.

In the prompt library we are building, a prompt marked “Tested in Gemini on [date]” was run through the free Gemini API on the gemini-3.8-flash model, as a fresh request with default settings, and the answer was checked against criteria we set in advance. For code and formula prompts we also run the code and check the formulas ourselves rather than trusting the model. Results in the Gemini app or on paid plans may differ. A prompt we have not tested will not carry the label.

How prices are dated and refreshed

  • Every price shows the date we checked it on the official page.
  • Prices are shown in the currency the company publishes, usually USD. We add GBP or EUR only when we read them on the company’s official regional page, and we never convert currencies ourselves.
  • We recheck the prices on our hub pages, such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, once a month. The next full check is planned for November 1, 2026.
  • When a company changes a price or plan and we cover it in the news, we also update the relevant reviews and hubs and change the check date.

Screenshots and practice files

Screenshots of pricing and documentation pages are taken by us on the date of the check, and the caption says what they show. Some guides include practice files we created. When we ran them ourselves, for example checking the formulas in our Excel cleanup guide, the guide says so.

Comparisons

A comparison states whether we ran both tools on the same task. A comparison without such a run is labeled accordingly and is based on both companies’ official documentation.

Who writes and checks

Articles are written by the Maitz Editorial Team and by Nisim. Our content is created and edited with the help of AI tools, as explained on our About page. A model’s output is not a source: every price, feature and availability claim is checked against the official source, and sources are named in a list at the end of each article.

Mistakes and corrections

Found a mistake? Email press@maitz.co.il or use our contact page with the article link and the detail to check. Material errors are corrected with a dated correction note, as described in our editorial and corrections policy.

Affiliate links

Some articles contain affiliate links, and they are clearly labeled. An affiliate link does not affect our findings or the prices we report, and it does not mean the tool was tested hands-on.

Frequently asked questions

Do you pay for subscriptions to test tools?

No, unless the article says so. Hands-on checks run on free plans or on accounts already available to us, and when a test used credits or ran on a paid plan, we say so.

What is the difference between a “First look” and a hands-on review?

A first look is based on official documentation only and has no score. In a hands-on review we used the tool itself, and the article explains when, on which plan and what exactly we tested.

How often are prices updated?

Prices on our hub pages are rechecked once a month, and the next full check is planned for November 1, 2026. Every price shows its check date, and when a company changes a price we update sooner.
