Grok Bot and Claude solve different problems. Grok Bot runs named AI teammates on their own cloud computer and repeats work on a schedule or trigger; it comes with Cursor or SuperGrok plans from $20. Claude is a chat-first assistant with a real free tier, and Pro ($20) adds Claude Code. Pick by the job, not by a winner.

Checked October 8, 2026, against Cursor’s Grok Bot docs and help center, x.ai, and Anthropic’s pricing page and help center. This is a comparison based on official documentation; we didn’t run the two tools side by side, so there are no speed or quality scores here.

At a glance

The core difference: a teammate vs a conversation

In Grok Bot, you create a Bot, give it a name, one job and a description, and it works on a persistent cloud computer that all your Bots share, including files and browser sessions. When the work becomes repeatable, you ask it to set up a routine, and it runs in the cloud on a schedule or when an event arrives. Our Grok Bot explainer covers the basics, and the routines guide covers automation.

Claude starts from a conversation. You bring a question, a document or a project, and work with it in chat, in Projects or in files it creates for you: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF. Paid plans add scheduled tasks and Claude Code. Our Claude Projects guide shows how to keep context across chats.

By user type

Which tool fits which user (maitz recommendation based on official features, not a benchmark)
You are… Lean toward Grok Bot if… Lean toward Claude if…
A business owner You want recurring work done without asking each time: a daily summary of support tickets, a reply drafted when a Slack message arrives, a report that needs logging in to a dashboard You mainly need help thinking, writing and analyzing files on demand, and want to start free
A writer or editor Your research involves sites you have to sign in to, or you want a Bot to collect material on a schedule Your work is drafting and revising long text and documents, with a free tier to test on and model choice on Pro
A developer You already pay for Cursor, so Grok Bot comes with the plan, and you want routines triggered by GitHub, Sentry or PagerDuty events You want an agent in your terminal and IDE: Claude Code is included with Pro

For writers, our Claude review for writing and documents compares Free and Pro. For developers, our Cursor vs Claude Code comparison goes deeper on the coding side.

What it costs to try each

  • Claude: start on the Free plan. Upgrade to Pro ($20) only when you hit limits or need Claude Code.
  • Grok Bot: there is no free plan. The trial is a usage credit spent by agent steps and tokens, and Cursor doesn’t publish its size. Our Grok Bot free trial guide explains how to plan a small first task so you don’t burn it. After that, access comes with Cursor Pro ($20) or SuperGrok ($30), and the two don’t stack. Full details in our Grok Bot pricing guide.

Also watch automation costs: every Grok Bot routine run spends usage, including Test runs, and Cursor warns that an hourly schedule or a busy Slack trigger can use a week of usage in a day.

Privacy

Grok Bot needs cloud data storage, and all your Bots share one computer, so anything you put there is available to every Bot. Cursor’s privacy policy says data from the EU may be transferred to US servers under legally valid transfer mechanisms. With Claude, users of Free, Pro and Max choose whether their chats are used for training, and Anthropic Ireland, Limited is the data controller for the EEA, UK and Switzerland. See our Grok Bot privacy guide and our guide to opting out of AI training.
